Navigating incontinence products may seem daunting. There are so many different products, sizes and absorbency levels. However, we are here to help guide you and find the best suitable product for your needs.
Do all pads have adhesive backings?
No, not all incontinence pads have adhesive backings. The purpose of the adhesive area on pads is to ensure that the pad can be secured into underwear through adhesion. Typically just the smaller pads have adhesive backings.
When looking at larger pads, they often do not have them. However please do not worry- this is not a mistake. Larger pads are big enough to stay in place on their own and therefore do not require adhesive strips.
What if my large pad is not staying in place?
As these pads do not have adhesive backings their large design is intended to keep them in place. However, if this does not seem to be working for you, try a Pad Holder. Pad Holders are intended to keep large pads from moving around and ensure they stay in place.
Is there a difference between menstrual and incontinence pads?
Yes! Menstrual products are designed to absorb the flow of menstruation over a prolonged period. Incontinence pads are designed to absorb the fast flow of urine. The main difference between these products is their absorbency. Besides the absorbency discrepancy, these products also vary in odor control. Menstrual pads focus on the masking of odors while incontinence pads neutralize the pH of urine in order to eliminate the odor. Lastly, menstrual pads do vary in size, however incontinence pads have extreme size variations that are intended to suit all needs and absorbency levels.
